Features

Built for people drowning in red dots

One manager's core complaint: "I know I replied there recently — I just can't find the thread." whatsnext fixes that.

Find that thread

Describe it in plain words — "the thread where Priya pushed back on the Q3 budget" — and get ranked threads with deep links, powered by on-device semantic search.

My conversations

Your auto-maintained working set, split into On my plate and Everything else — with waiting on you badges and one-line summaries.

Recap any link

Paste a Slack link → neutral summary, each party's position, open questions, and 3 ready-to-send reply drafts. Thread memory shapes future recaps.

Always fresh

Syncs on launch, on window focus, and every 5 minutes while open — with a live countdown to the next auto-sync and a manual Sync now anytime.

Keyboard-first

1/2/3/4 switch views, j/k navigate, / search, ? shortcuts. Dark & light themes included.

Local message store

Messages and search embeddings live in a local SQLite database on your Mac. Recaps go only to the model endpoint you configure — delete data/ to start over.

Privacy by design

Your messages stay on your Mac

whatsnext syncs your Slack history into a local database and computes search embeddings on-device — there is no whatsnext cloud. When you ask for a recap, only that specific thread is sent to the Anthropic-compatible LLM endpoint you choose (Kimi, or any compatible API), with your own API key.

  • Local SQLite store — everything is a file at data/whatsnext.db.
  • On-device embeddings — semantic search runs locally with all-MiniLM-L6-v2.
  • Customizable model endpoint — bring your own base URL, API key, and model.
  • Your token, your scope — a Slack user token indexes exactly what you can see. Nothing more.
